Day trips from Ouarzazate to discover Sahara desert and the south-east of Morocco
Dades gorges, the oasis of Skoura and the valley of the roses
Morning departure at 8.30am from your hotel in Ouarzazate to the Dades gorges passing by the oasis of Skoura where we stop to visit the famous kasbah of Amridil. Once back on the main road, the route passes through the valley of the roses with a stop in Kela’a M’gouna for a coffee break. From here, we drive along the road of a thousand kasbahs to the Dades gorges for lunch, followed by a walk alongside the river. In the afternoon, we drive through the Boumalne Dades valley and arrive back in Ouarzazate at the end of the day.
Draa valley, Zagora and the dunes of Tinfou
Morning departure at 8am from your hotel in Ouarzazate to the Draa valley and the dunes of Tinfou crossing the Anti-Atlas mountains and the pass of Tizi-n-Tinfifite (1660m). We stop in Agdez for a coffee break. From here, we drive along the Draa valley and the ancient road of caravans as far as Zagora and the dunes of Tinfou where you can enjoy a walk in the sand dunes and experience a camel ride for about an hour with a guide. Lunch will be served in Zagora in a nice riad with swimming pool. In the afternoon, the return to Ouarzazate is via the river of Draa and the ancient road of caravans. We reach Ouarzazate by the end of the afternoon.
The kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, Ounila valley and the kasbah of Telouet
Morning departure at 9am from your hotel or riad in Ouarzazate to the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous Kasbah in Morocco and the subject of many post-cards. This Kasbah sets the scene for many films, such as ‘Alexander’ and ‘The Gladiator’. The itinerary continues along the Ounila valley to the kasbah of Telouet (which served as a palatial residence and the headquarters of the powerful Glaoui tribe). This is where lunch is scheduled, before returning to Ouarzazate over the High-Atlas and the mountain pass of Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m). We reach Ouarzazate by the end of the afternoon.
