Camel trek in M’hamid

Your desert adventure begins with a 9am departure from your hotel in Ouarzazate, journeying towards M’hamid and the breathtaking Erg Lihoudi dunes. Along the way, we pass through Agdez, the gateway to the lush Dra’a valley, where we’ll pause for a refreshing coffee break. Following the path of ancient caravans, we continue along the Dra’a valley, a route once traveled by traders and nomads, until we reach Zagora. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a charming riad, offering a perfect moment to relax before the adventure continues. In the afternoon, we travel to M’hamid, where the paved road ends and the vast Sahara Desert begins. From here, a thrilling 4×4 drive takes us deep into the golden dunes, leading us to the awe-inspiring Erg Lihoudi. Upon arrival, embark on a camel ride, immersing yourself in the serenity of the desert as you ascend the towering 100m dunes to witness a truly unforgettable sunset. As night falls, unwind in a comfortable desert camp, where a warm traditional dinner awaits, followed by a peaceful night beneath a sky filled with millions of stars.

If you rise early, you’ll be rewarded with the breathtaking spectacle of sunrise over the dunes. After a delicious breakfast, take some time to wander through the dunes, soaking in the tranquility before we begin our adventure. We’ll start by driving from Erg Lihoudi to M’hamid, where you’ll have the chance to explore this iconic desert gateway. Next, our journey takes us north to Tamegroute, renowned for its green-glazed pottery. Here, you’ll visit traditional pottery workshops, stroll through the charming, covered alleys of the old medina, and uncover the treasures of the ancient Quranic library, which houses exquisite hand-written Arabic manuscripts. From Tamegroute, we continue north to Zagora, where a delightful lunch awaits. In the afternoon, we make our way back to Ouarzazate, crossing the dramatic landscapes of the Anti-Atlas mountains and the picturesque Tizi-n-Tinfifite pass (1,660m). We will arrive by end of the afternoon.
