Departing in the morning from your hotel in Ouarzazate, we set off on an unforgettable journey toward M’hamid and the dunes of Erg Lihoudi. Our route takes us through the breathtaking landscapes of the Anti-Atlas, the Draa valley, and the ancient caravan route, reaching Zagora just in time for lunch at a charming riad. In the afternoon, we visit Tamegroute, famous for its distinctive green-glazed pottery. This historic village is also home to a small medina with covered desert streets and an ancient Quranic library that houses exquisite hand-written Arabic manuscripts. From there, we continue to M’hamid, the last village before the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert unfolds. By late afternoon, we arrive at Erg Lihoudi, where a camel ride awaits. As the sun sets, take in the breathtaking view from the 100-meter-high dunes. The night will be spent in a comfortable desert camp, where a traditional dinner under the starry sky completes this magical experience.
If you wake up early, you can witness the breathtaking spectacle of the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, there’s time for a peaceful walk in the sand before we begin our journey from Erg Lihoudi to Erg Chegaga. We first pass through the village of M’hamid, where we stop for lunch at a charming hotel. In the afternoon, we set off for Erg Chegaga, covering 66 km through the vast Sahara. Along the way, we traverse diverse desert landscapes, including rolling dunes, rocky plains, barren plateaus, and hidden oases. By late afternoon, we arrive at Erg Chegaga, where the sunset from the towering 300-meter dunes offers an unforgettable view. The evening is spent in a comfortable desert camp, where a delicious dinner under the stars completes this extraordinary experience.
