Morning departure from your hotel in Ouarzazate to M’hamid and the dunes of Erg Lihoudi passing by the Anti-Atlas and Agdez, where the Draa valley starts, with a short stop for a coffee break. Afterwards, we drive off-road along the Draa valley’s ancient caravan route as far as Zagora for lunch in a nice riad with swimming pool. In the afternoon, we stop in Tamegroute for a visit to the potteries. They are famous throughout Morocco for the green glaze. Tamegroute has a small medina of covered desert streets and an ancient Quranic library which exquisite hand-written Arabic texts. The route continues to M’hamid which marks the end of the paved road and the beginning of the Sahara desert. Our trip continues by the 4×4 vehicle along the Sahara desert until we reach the dunes to take a camel ride and enjoy an unforgettable sunset from the summit of Erg Lihoudi (100 m), The night will be spent in a comfortable desert camp which is also the venue for dinner.

If you wake up early enough, you can watch the spectacle of the sunrise. After breakfast, there is time for a walk in the dunes and, the trip begins by driving from Erg Lihoudi to Erg Chegaga passing by the village of M’hamid where we stop for lunch in a nice hotel with swimming pool. In the afternoon, is the departure for Erg Chegaga with 68km of driving along the Sahara desert. This route passes different features of the desert; ‘erg’, ‘reg’, ‘hammada’, oases. We reach Erg Chegaga by the afternoon. The sunset from the top of Erg Chegaga (300m) is spectacular. Dinner and night in a comfortable desert camp.

If you wake up early enough, you can watch the spectacle of the sunrise. After breakfast, the road takes us from Erg Chegaga to Ouarzazate through another 100km in the Sahara desert with varying scenery; dunes, Iriqui lake, mountains and fossils. Lunch will be in Foum Zguid. In the afternoon, the drive back to Ouarzazate is along paved roads via the town of Taznakht. We reach Ouarzazate by the end of the afternoon.
