Morning departure at 9am from your hotel in Ouarzazate to the dunes of Erg Lihoudi passing by Agdez, where the Draa valley starts, for a short coffee break, followed by some off-road driving along the ancient road of caravans, arriving in Zagora in time for lunch. In the afternoon, we stop in Tamegroute to visit the Koranic library, the manufacturing location of the unique green pottery of Tamegroute and the underground streets of the village. You then reach the village of M’hamid which marks the end of the paved road and the beginning of the Sahara desert. Our trip continues by the 4WD vehicle along the Sahara desert until we reach Erg Lihoudi dunes to take a walk and enjoy an unforgettable sunset from the summit (100m). After sunset, the night will be spent in a comfortable desert camp close to the dunes, which is also the venue for dinner.

We walk for 6 days for about 120 km across the Sahara Desert and to discover the most beautiful desert of Morocco and its vast dunes with varying features of the desert; ‘erg’, ‘reg’, ‘hammada’ and ‘oases’. We arrive in the afternoon of the 7th day at Chegaga dunes, where you can climb Erg Chegaga to watch the sunset from the top (300m). We have dinner and spend the night in a comfortable desert camp among Erg Chegaga.

– Walking time is approximately 5 hours a day (2 hours and a half in the morning, and the same again in the afternoon), although it is also possible to ride the camels. Other camels are there to carry the equipment. Meals and tents are prepared by our guides and camel drivers.

If you wake up early enough, you can watch the spectacle of the sunrise. After breakfast, the road takes us from Erg Chegaga to Ouarzazate. We drive another 100 km across the Sahara over the stony desert, “reg” and “hammada” and across the now dried up lake Iriqui. In the middle of this lake, you are likely to experience a mirage but we can assure you that this “water” does not really exist. Here you can search for fossils, some lying around but most fixed firmly into the rock. At the edge of the desert at Foum Zguid, we drive north to Taznakht, famous for its Berber rugs and carpets, where we stop for lunch. Turning back east we arrive in Ouarzazate at the end of the afternoon.
